Product Description
GM's turbine powered Firebird III was photographed shortly after it's completion on a night run that demonstrated both its advanced lighting systems and its ability to "drive by wire" and follow an electrical signal buried in the highway. The drive by wire capability was made possible because the driver steered Firebird III with a tiller mounted in the center console. The tiller sent an electrical signal to a servo-mechanism that actually steered the wheels.
