This photo from GM's Milford Proving Grounds captured just a small portion of the 1968 Competitive Teardown. Each year, a group of GM and competitors' vehicles are put driven through an identical routine that simulates how customers typically use their cars and trucks. At the end of this rigorous cycle, a team of technicians and engineers dismantle the vehicles and compare the condition of key components. Obviously, this is a long and complex process, but one that provides invaluable information to the engineering teams working on future generations of GM cars and trucks.
