Product Description

It was 1933 and America was still deep in the midst of the depression, with GM stock trading well under $2.00 a share. A Century of Progress International Exposition was the name of a World's Fair held in Chicago from 1933 to 1934 to celebrate the city's centennial.

The GM Pavilion at the Fair featured an authentic assembly line where visitors could watch in amazement as workers assembled new Chevrolet Eagles before their very eyes! The GM Pavilion showcased each of the GM brands, including not only their automotive products, but Delco heaters, Frigidaire appliances, and Winton industrial power plants as well.

It was at the 1933 World's Fair that GM introduced the concept of Customer Research by talking directly with the consumers who attended. The GM Research Hall dazzled attendees with scientific breakthroughs such as the revolutionary two-stroke diesel engine. The A Century of Progress Exposition was an unheralded success and hosted over 48 million visitors in the two years it ran.
